Communications for Generations: Closing the Gap at Work
· The course is designed to be a 1 or 2 day event depending on your desired outcome
· Can also be modularized into 4 hour segments. Webinars are an option as well.
· For those of who prefer to use “class time” to interact with peers, collaborate on ideas and input, and develop a detailed, “ready to implement” solution, the 2 day format is ideal!
· 2 day format can be modified to allow more focus on any one area depending on the audience
v Introduction and Course Overview Lay the groundwork and objectives of the day for the course. Students will also have an opportunity to identify their personal learning objectives
v History in Brief Participants will look at how the generation gap is defined and where it comes from. Participants will also determine similarities and differences amongst themselves.
v Finding Common Ground This session will teach participants how finding things that are in common can be useful when deciding how to approach differences.
v Traditionalists, Boomers, Gen X, Gen Y (millennial) This session will look at common generation definitions in an effort to understand their history.
v Recruiting that Bridges the Gap Participants will explore generation-specific factors that affect retention and recruiting.
v Pre-Assignment Review This session will review the pre-assignment and explore common generalizations.
v Solutions Strategy Session: Participants identify targeted ways to appeal to different generations.
v The Value of Planning Participants will learn how succession planning and coaching can increase an organization’s sustainability.
v Holding on for the Good Times Participants will look at the effect the generation gap has on retention.
v Developing Targeted Retention Strategies Participants will learn how to use the generation gap to their advantage when developing retention strategies.
v What We Really Want Participants will explore how to use proven techniques to make our workplace engaging.
v Workshop Wrap-Up Students will have an opportunity to ask questions and complete an action plan.
